Luca Briselle (26) won his first match at the English Open Snooker Championship. In Milton Keynes, he defeated our Northern Irish compatriot Mark Allen 4-1. “I’m enjoying snooker again,” he said afterwards.
The 26-year-old Preselle, who has had a good season so far, got the first frame by 64 breaks. In a second frame even, Brecel (WS-46) had a “lightning cue” from which Allen (WS-9) scored enough points to equalize.
The third frame went to the Belgian with two small stints. After having a great long red ball in his pocket, our compatriot missed a break of 73 to frame the victory. Brecel continued to act aggressively and scored another 64 breaks for a remarkable victory.
England’s Stuart Carrington (WS-49) is Prissel’s next opponent.
“Enjoy at the table again”
“I’ve had a good season so far,” Luca Briselle said after his win. “When you win games, confidence comes naturally.”
“Last year I was playing really well, but the victories didn’t come. However, I didn’t change the way I play.”
“There were all kinds of problems in the previous years,” Brisel continues. “I had my shoulder blades and had hyperventilation. There were also issues with the signals. That combination wasn’t really good for snooker.”
“I’m glad it’s all over and I’m happy to be back at the snooker table.”
The years before there were all sorts of problems. I patted my shoulder and suffered from hyperventilation. There were also cue problems.
