Belgian telecom operator Orange will increase its rates from January 17, 2022. These are the packages that include fixed internet. Fixed internet and TV packages go up a bit. They are about 2 and 3 euros per month, respectively. The speed also increases.
Including De Standaard Reports indicate that the price hike is therefore related to the Love, Home and Boost subscriptions. Customers who buy internet and mobile only from Orange will not have to deal with price increases. Belgian media reported that Orange itself has not yet informed customers, but will do so in the coming weeks.
Orange substantiates the price hike by saying that wholesale prices, i.e. what the company pays for access to cable infrastructure, have also increased. This also applies to prices for modems and decoders, as a result of the shortage of chips around the world. Finally, rising energy and labor costs are a factor as well.
At the same time, the download speed in the Telenet coverage area increases from 100 to 150 Mbps and the upload rate increases from 10 to 15 Mbps. Subscribers in the VOO coverage area go from 10 to 15 Mbit for download and from 5 to 7.5 Mbit for upload.
