Thousands of people demonstrate in Vienna, Rome, Zagreb and Amsterdam against compulsory vaccination and anti-Corona measures | Abroad

Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schellenberg announced on Friday a new lockdown to slow the rapidly rising number of coronavirus infections. In the medium term, Austria will impose mandatory vaccination against Covid-19. For vaccines and people who have recovered from the disease, the lockdown will end no later than December 13. Unvaccinated persons must remain in custody after this date. Austria will make vaccination compulsory from February next year.

The right-wing FPÖ party had called for the protest. According to party leader Herbert Kekel, who is currently infected with the Corona virus, Austria is on its way to becoming a “dictatorship”.

Thousands of protesters gathered in central Vienna on Saturday afternoon. They waved placards and chanted slogans against the “dictatorship of Corona”. “It is not normal for our rights to be taken away,” one protester said.

Police are present at the scene in large numbers, with at least 1,300 soldiers. Reportedly, the mood is bleak and the police have already arrested the fugitives. Some protesters threw bottles at the police.

Thousands demonstrated in the Croatian capital, Zagreb, on Saturday, against the government’s tougher measures on the coronavirus. This was reported by the Croatian media. Dozens of buses transported protesters from all over the country.

In Croatia, for example, only people who have been vaccinated, who have recovered from Covid-19 or who have tested negative are allowed to enter public buildings. The demonstrators also demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Andrei Plenkovic. In Croatia, only 46.5 percent of the population is vaccinated. On average, 58 people die every day from Covid-19.
