The daily number of infections is increasing, but again slower than before: these are the latest numbers of corona

Between 24 and 30 November, 320.4 people were hospitalized with Covid-19 per day. This represents an increase of 10 percent over the previous period. This is also much more than the peak during the third wave. On April 2, there were an average of 275 admissions per day.

Yesterday, 386 patients with corona were admitted. It’s been a lot since November 14 last year. By that time, the peak of the second wave had already been reached.

There are currently 3,750 corona patients in hospital (+13%), 780 patients needing intensive care (+19 percent).

Between November 21 and 27, an average of 17,839 cases of corona were recorded in our country every day. This is a 12 percent increase. This means that the growth in the number of infections appears to be slowing further.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, 1.8 million infections have already been recorded in our country.

When we look at the daily numbers, we see that the number of new infections every day has been over a week. 25,563 infections were detected on Monday, November 22, the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic. The previous record dates back to October 27 last year, when 22,221 new cases were recorded in one day.

Tests

There have not been many tests for Covid in our country. Between November 21 and 27, an average of 118,030 tests were administered daily, up 10 percent from the previous week. Last Wednesday, 141,920 people were tested, a Belgian record since the outbreak of the Coruna virus.

The positivity rate is 16.1%, the reproduction number is decreasing slightly (-6%) and is now 1.07. When the number is higher than 1, it means that the virus is spreading faster.

The number of deaths is also increasing. In the week of November 21-27, an average of 40.7 people died each day from the effects of Covid-19, a 12 percent increase on a week-over-week basis. And 49 deaths from Corona were recorded on Wednesday, November 24. It’s been April 28th since there have been so many.

The death toll has risen to 27,015 since the start of the pandemic.

vaccinations

Across all age groups, 77 percent of Belgians have now been vaccinated at least once. This means that 8,832,155 Belgians have already received at least their first dose of the vaccine against Covid-19. 8,689,751 people have already been fully vaccinated. This is 75 percent of the total population. 1590,175 people have already received a third shot.

In Flanders, 5,411,937 people have been at least partially vaccinated: 81.4 percent of the total population or 93.8 percent of adults. 5,352,335 of them have been fully vaccinated: 80.5% of the population or 92.8% of adults.
