At the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Emma Blackshart narrowly missed a medal, but now she has shaken off that disappointment at the World Cup in Oman.

Plasschaert went into the final day in fifth, but the No. 2 in the world moved towards the podium with fourth and seventh in the first two stages of the day.

The medal was looming in the final race and the 2018 world champion didn’t miss that opportunity. She sailed to third while her medal competitors failed to finish in the top ten. In addition, its two lowest scores – 29th and 25th places – have been omitted.

For example, the 28-year-old Blackshart won her second world title in her career. She narrowly beat Poland’s Agata Barwinska, who was in the lead for a while before the final day. Olympic champion Anne-Marie Random missed the podium.

Beginner Eileen Versterelen can be satisfied with the 28th place in the final World Cup standings. The 18-year-old Antwerp student finished her first World Cup with 13th and 22nd place.
