A young woman died in tragic circumstances in an amusement park in the Turkish city of Istanbul. Zainab Junay, 19, became unconscious at a wilderness attraction and started vomiting. Despite the family’s cries for help, the staff were refusing to stop this swinging giant.
Gunay dreamed of becoming a psychologist. Last Monday, while waiting for her exam results, she wanted to blow some enthusiasm at Hayrola Luna Park. Riding on a kamikaze, a rotating structure that flips upside down, would clear her mind.
Unfortunately, things quickly went wrong. Junay became unwell and fell unconscious. “We asked several times to stop the attraction, but it was refused,” her parents now say. “Then, we were told it wasn’t the first time a human had lost consciousness. Just hit her in the face two or three times and you’ll get over it.”
However, this did not work. Her uncle called an ambulance, but only her death could be determined in the hospital.
The fact that the director did not realize the seriousness of the situation all this time leaves a bitter taste in the family. “Negligence cost her her life. We will do everything we can to achieve justice.”
