As you can see above, Coen Waters told Martin and Dorothy on Qmusic this morning, “It pains me deeply to say that I won’t be able to drive the Dakar Rally this year. Marseilles and our cars have been denied.” However, Quinn and his team had already (unofficially) pre-checked the cars by someone from the organisation, but in Marseille it turned out that things were wrong with the old cars they wanted to use. Seven other cars of the older type were also rejected.
Quinn continued, “Our mechanics then worked a full house for two days and two nights, but when we arrived yesterday it wasn’t quite right. Very strict. They were relentless, albeit with a lot of sympathy.” Whether or not he will focus on next year, the Clouseau singer is yet to know. “It’s really still so fresh. We’ve been working on this for a whole year and everyone is heartbroken. I even feel bad that we’re not giving up, but this is such a blow.”
Coen Waters will be participating in the Dakar Rally for the 14th time this year. He will soon publish a book on this subject.
