O’Connor is now facing a lot of criticism for her abuse of power, and Tampa Mayor Jane Castor has announced “appropriate penalties.” O’Connor regrets. “It was the first time we had taken this car from the golf cart-friendly community where we own properties, so we needed a license plate,” she explains.
“In hindsight, I realized how inappropriate my approach to this issue could be, but that was certainly not my intention. I knew that my conversation was on videotape, and I did not mean to put the deputy in an awkward position. (…) I know there is no one above Law including me.”
