How do you know that someone has become a phenomenon? Well, maybe if every statistic was put under a magnifying glass.
So put Jeremy Doku on that list.
Yesterday, the speedy winger was given an extended rest by coach Pep Guardiola for the match against Young Boys. Doku was not allowed to appear until the 80th minute.
However, the Red Devil managed to impress once again. Immediately after coming on as a substitute, Doku almost provided an assist. In addition to winning 7 duels, there were also 6 successful dribbles.
This is a very impressive number of hits in just fifteen minutes.
In comparison, since September 2021, only City teammate John Stones has been able to successfully complete every dribble – if the total is higher than 5 – during a Champions League match.
The defender completed his seven tackles in a ninety-minute spell in the final against Inter.
Doku’s impressive performance at City also made playing the role of the bird Jack Grealish think.
The Red Devil competitor posted an amazing quote after the match against Young Boys: “I have to start scoring more. Of course I know what I offer the team besides goals and assists, but every striker wants to be decisive.”
So it seems that Grealish realizes that he will have to step up to keep our compatriot out of Manchester City’s starting lineup in big matches.
‘Doku Effect’ fans laugh on social media.
