MovieIt was announced a few days ago that the Ostend Film Festival was postponed. But the presentation of Insours and D-Games (Online Video Awards) will also happen at a later time. This writes VRT NWS.
Normally, The Jamies will be awarded on January 28, which are the awards to the best online creators. A day later, the Ensors Awards, the most important Flemish film and television awards, will also be presented. But both events have now been postponed to a later date, just like the Ostend Film Festival. The reason for this is the closing of cinemas.
“The film festival’s ambition is to bring our program to the public as soon as possible once cinemas are allowed to open again,” Artistic Director Peter Kremersch told VRT NWS. “And the Ensors and Jimmy decided the same thing. The dynamics of the festival, and the run-up to the Insors, that is also important.”
When the film festival takes place, it remains a question mark. “We can’t set a new date now,” Kremersch told HLN earlier this week. “It all depends on when cinemas are allowed to reopen. In any case, it will be difficult because of the stricter measures that have just been imposed. You should know that we are working with a lot of temporary workers.”
