The boy sent a message to his grandmother via social media using the courier’s phone he found: “Hello grandma, this is me Alex, I’m in France, in Toulouse. I really hope you get this message, I love you.” And I want to go home.
Patti is also said to have told the rest of his story: From 2017 onwards, he first lived in a villa in Spain for four years. His mother Melanie and father David reportedly took him to Spain for a two-week holiday.
According to the French Public Prosecutor, he was then transferred to Morocco, before moving to France to live in what looks like a town in the French Pyrenees. For six years, Alex Paty is said to have lived a nomadic life within a so-called “spiritual” community. He wouldn’t stay in the same place for more than a few months.
The French prosecutor also stated at the press conference that Alex decided to leave his mother behind because she is planning to go to Finland. The woman may be residing there, although police do not know for sure. It is said that the grandfather died six months ago. Alex Paty, in turn, began walking alone towards the city of Toulouse in southern France, where he was found on Wednesday morning.
