Aldi Expanding to 400 supermarkets in Southeast US The German supermarket chain is taking over there formulas Winn-Dixie And Harvey’s Supermarket About.

How much Aldi is paying for supermarkets in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi was not disclosed. The German discounter reports that the company has invested approximately $2.5 billion since its arrival in the mid-1990s. Aldi recently opened its 26th regional headquarters and distribution center in Alabama, on top of plans to open 20 new locations by the end of the year.

Notably, not all Winn-Dixie and Harvey’s Supermarket stores will reopen under the Aldi banner. Hart is still evaluating which locations will be converted to the Aldi formula and “the intent is that the stores we don’t convert will continue to operate as Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarkets.” The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2024.
