Alexandra Manley put the finishing touches on the final stage of the Thuringia Women’s Tour. The Australian bikeExchange-Jayco racer won the sixth and final stage in Altenburg with the leader jersey. As a result, Manley closes the week with four (!) stage wins and an overall victory.
On the last day of the German Tour, a stage was scheduled in Altenburg. The route consists of three rounds of approximately 35 kilometers in length, with 500 meters in elevation of 5.4% each time. In the opening stage, there were many attempts to drop out, but not a single group got the space.
In depth, they managed to pull out, including Robbie Roseman Gannon, Maria Julia Confalonieri, Kirsty van Havten, Fimke Marcus, Eva van Agt, Danik Hengfield, Romy Kasper, Anis Morischon and Marketa Hajkova. They rode over 30 seconds of the peloton in the hillside final toward Altenburg.
In the last five kilometres, the peloton watched the top runners, and then followed the connection in the last two kilometres. On the stones in the middle of Altenburg, there was no measure again of who wore the yellow jersey, Alexandra Manley, who gave her opponent Marta Lach no chance in the battle on the stage and the final victory.
