celebritiesAll seven members of the popular South Korean boy band BTS have extended their contracts with Big Hit Music. This means that the band will officially return after completing their military service in 2025.
“Big Hit Music’s board of directors agreed to extend the exclusive contracts of BTS members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook,” the agency said in a statement. BTS signed the contract in 2018 and it was scheduled to expire next year. Because all members were likely to begin their military service before the end of the year, contracts had to be arranged now.
It’s not clear how many additional years BTS has signed up for. Although the agency says it will be even after 2025. To celebrate the good news, Big Hit Music donated 1 billion won (704,290 euros) to UNICEF on behalf of ARMY – BTS’s fans. After all, the world-famous K-pop star has been working with the charity for six years.
Compulsory military service
In June 2022, BTS announced their hiatus. The decision was made out of necessity, as the members had to perform their mandatory military services in South Korea. Currently, BTS members Jin and J-Hope are serving in national service. Later this week, Suga will also begin his military service. The K-pop group promised that they will perform together on stage again in 2025, after their military service. Their contract extension with Big Hit Music makes this official.
