“Is everything alright? Do you want us to step in? If so, take the lid off the mug.” This is what the coffee maker wrote on the coffee of Brandi Slim Roberson’s 18-year-old daughter. A man approached her daughter whom she did not know when she was studying in a café. “The man’s voice was very loud and excited,” the mother said to me. New York Post† The barista realized that something wasn’t quite right and so decided to step in. I brought the girl an ‘extra hot chocolate that someone forgot to pick up’. The letter was written on the cup.
“they (The 18-year-old, editor) She looked up to see a group of staff staring at her—ready to step in,” says the mother. But the teen told the staff she was fine and no action needed.
The mother said she hopes other companies will train their employees to do the same. “This confirms my belief in humanity,” she said. “Maybe just by watching this story other people would say something if they had the opportunity to say something or walk away they would say something.”
