the story
The series revolves around a strange mutant virus, a parasitic fungus, that turns people into infectious zombies at lightning speed. The viewer is introduced to single father Joel who, after a time jump, is suddenly working as a smuggler in a high-security quarantine zone in Boston. But then he gets a vital mission. He must smuggle a “package” from Boston to the western United States. But that package turns out to be the teenage girl Ellie. Why? She is immune to the virus and may hold out hope for a vaccine. Joel is given the daunting task of getting the girl to her destination in one piece, risking his own life.
