RSC Anderlecht claimed its fourth straight win last weekend and jumped into the provisional lead in the Jupiler Pro League. As for the record champion, it has been alone in the lead since 2017. But now bombing RSCA as the title favorite is, according to analyst Philip Albert, a bridge too far.
However, the RSCA season got off to a soft start. On the opening day, city rivals Union SG lost for the umpteenth time and the match played at the Dudenpark was below average. And Anderlecht didn’t show great things in subsequent matches either. But the results came this time.
Not the best armed
And after four consecutive victories, by narrow margins each time, RSCA is now top of the provisional standings. In addition, there is a strong belief within the club that performance and the play provided will only improve when all new arrivals are fully integrated.
However, Albert believes that a number of teams in the Jupiler Pro League are currently in a better position. “I don’t have the impression that Anderlecht is better armed,” the Walloon analyst adds. RTBF. “KRC Genk, Antwerp FC, Club Brugge and even AA Gent with their strikers are doing better now.”
Work ahead
Although Albert is fascinated by, among other things, the purple-and-white midfield, with Theo Leoni up front. However, he believes that RSCA is not ready yet. “Despite the four wins, there is still work to do. Anderlecht made good transfers. On Sunday they were also good in the match against Charleroi, but they struggled again in certain moments”.
