Anderlecht took a completely new path two years ago with Vincent Kompany. But it certainly hasn’t been a great success story yet. It is clearly a long term job.
After a year working as a player coach, Kompany signed a long-term contract in Brussels in the summer of 2020. But the former Red Devil is clearly not that important in the club’s five-year expansion plan. Because Anderlecht would not panic if he left early.
Kompany CEO, Peter Verbeke said at Newspaper. “Even if the Kompany leaves here, we will continue to operate as we are now.”
Then, Verbeke made a surprising statement: “In a way I hope that Vincent won’t stay until 2026. If he leaves early, it means that he has already won two or three championships and that he has been snatched from here.”
