Kouamé has never crossed the boundaries of Italian football during his career. The Ivorian striker enjoyed coaching youth at Sassuolo, Prato and Inter and moved to Serie B Citadella in the summer of 2017.
With 11 goals in 40 matches, he made a move to the highest level in Genoa. Fiorentina picked the young striker there last year. In Anderlecht, he can gain experience for one season, at least in a purple outfit.
“Christian is a young striker who already has a lot of experience under his belt,” says sporting director Peter Verbeke. “It combines strength and speed, qualities that we wanted to add to our core.”
“His arrival should give us more opportunities to increase our scoring ability. Like Joshua Zirkzee, Christian also consciously chose the RSCA as an important step in his sporting development. This conviction was important in our selection of Christian.”
“I am very happy to be able to play for Anderlecht this season,” said Christian Kouamé upon his arrival in Brussels. “The way the coach plays should suit me well. I joined a group that already has many qualities and I hope to be able to greet the fans on the field as soon as possible.”
After a difficult start with a few goals last season, coach Vincent Kompany already has more attacking options with Joshua Zirkzee and Christian Kwame.
