Microsoft announces the next update for Windows 11. Android apps, taskbar updates, and a redesign of Notepad and Media Player will be available sometime in February.
Windows Product Head Panos Panay shares the news In a blog post. The taskbar is expanded with the mute and unmute functionality. In addition, Microsoft is adding a widget to the taskbar to display local weather reports. Notepad and Media Players apps have been redesigned to better reflect the style of Windows 11. Both apps will receive dark mode.
Android apps on Windows 11
Support for Android apps is the most promising introduction. Microsoft provides a number of apps from the Amazon Appstore for Windows 11. Public preview, collecting user feedback to further develop Android support.
In addition to the announcement, Microsoft shares a series of numbers on Windows usage. Windows 10 and 11 run on 1.4 billion devices worldwide. According to Microsoft, Cisco WebEx, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom are used six times more than before the pandemic.
