Annemarie Worst has a taste for America. 777’s 26-year-old rider already recorded his third win of the still-early cyclocross season on Saturday. A two-time player of the year in Rochester before, he also won in Baltimore. His friend Vincent Bastions won again in the men’s competition.

The USCX Charm City Cyclocross in Baltimore consisted of two separate races. Saturday was C1 cyclocross, and Sunday was a C2 size cross program. For the women, the first day’s success took a turn for the worse. The Dutch turned out to be a class of their own, beating number two, experienced Frenchwoman Caroline Mann, by more than a minute. American Raylyn Russ finished third, nearly a minute and a half behind the winner.

With the men, the win – not entirely surprising – went to Vincent Peydance. The 33-year-old Belgian recorded his fifth consecutive victory. All these victories he achieved on American soil. After a thrilling battle, Bastions held the lead over home rider Eric Brunner. Curtis White had to settle for third.

On American soil, the Sausages and Baestaens regained confidence as they aimed for the season’s first World Cups in Waterloo (October 9) and Fayetteville (October 16).
