At least 14 people have been killed by tornadoes in the United States

Seven people died as a result of the severe weather in Texas, including two young children aged two and five. At least two people were killed in the state of Arkansas and at least two in the state of Oklahoma.

Ray Sappington, the sheriff of Cook County, Texas, told the media he expected the death toll to rise. Also, dozens of people were reportedly injured. “We are now in the search and rescue phase. We hope we can rescue more survivors. The devastation in the area is very intense.”

Many buildings, cars and infrastructure were also damaged. For example, there are images of vans lying on their sides and a highway near Dallas being shut down. A quarter of a million homes in Texas are without power.

In Oklahoma, six people were injured in addition to the two deaths, according to local officials. In Arkansas, one of the dead was a 26-year-old woman who was found in a collapsed house.
