At least 336 companies were declared bankrupt in Limburg in the first five months of 2024. This represents a 15% increase compared to the same period last year. Only in Flemish Brabant and Brussels have things gone further in the wrong direction, according to analysis by Graydon Creditsafe.
If we look at sectors, we find that the construction sector accounts for an increasingly important share of the total number of bankruptcies. This means that it is increasingly abandoning the catering industry (although it is also on the rise). Unfortunately, records are being broken in the transportation sector and the garage sector.
Graydon also investigated the risks of fraudulent bankruptcy. Based on various factors, such as a company’s mailbox, schedule configuration, activities, financial information, and movements within management or the board of directors, the likelihood of deceptive intentions behind the bankruptcy is evaluated with a number from 1 to 10.
In the Brussels region, bright lights turn red most often, followed by the Antwerp region. Liège and Charleroi also have a questionable reputation. Business people in Limburg are good. With us, the chance of fraud is very low. We still have some good news…
