Has the retrofit started? Barcelona successfully completed the difficult move in Villarreal: 1-3. Memphis Depay was important in the decisive 1-2 in the final stage. New coach Xavi reviews 6 out of 6 in the First Division.
Things seemed to get worse again for Barcelona after Samuel Chukwueze equalized. But in the final stage, Memphis Depay once again held out.
The Dutch striker calmly punished Villarreal’s loss of possession (he rotated the goalkeeper and pushed the ball from one defender’s legs into the goal) and put Barcelona on the path to victory once again. The score was 1-3 Coutinho with one penalty for the statistics.
The win means a lot to Barcelona’s players: it’s only their first away win this season and new coach Xavi maintains his perfect report in the competition: 6 out of 6 after victories against Espanyol and Villarreal.
But Xavi will realize that there is still a lot of work to be done at Barcelona. Efficiency on the offensive front was lacking and at times the defense was very weak.
