Beijing tightens Corona measures | abroad

Stricter measures were taken regarding Corona in the Chinese capital, Beijing, at the start of the holiday period. The local council announced on Saturday that until May 4, restaurants are only allowed to serve takeaway or home delivery.

Stores and public facilities in Beijing are only allowed to receive customers if they can provide a PCR test that is no more than 48 hours old.

On Sunday, the National Health Commission recorded 59 injuries in Beijing. More than 300 people have already been infected in the capital during the latest wave of pollution.

Several apartment complexes with thousands of residents have been cordoned off since the end of April. According to media reports, authorities have also set up a Covid field hospital with around 4,000 beds to isolate people who are asymptomatic and with mild infections.

China is following a strict strategy to combat the Corona virus. Comprehensive testing and isolation are carried out if the slightest outbreak occurs. However, this tactic does not appear to work well against the more contagious Omicron variant.
