The number of charging stations for electric vehicles is growing rapidly in Flanders. This year, 9,000 public charging stations have already been installed. And there are now three times faster chargers than there were a year ago.
At the end of June, electric vehicles in Flanders can go to 753 charging points of at least 150 kilowatts. A year ago there were 288 people, almost three times less. This is evidenced by figures from Dutch shipping data company Eco Movement, mentioned by De Tijd.
According to the same numbers, the total number of public charging stations also continues to increase. Flanders now has 29,111, twice as many as a year ago. There are a total of 37,000 charging stations in Belgium, most of them in Flanders.
Growth is now at cruising speed. In the past six months, nearly 9,000 have been added in Flanders. The increase is urgently needed because the number of electric vehicles is increasing significantly. In February, the milestone of 100,000 electric vehicles was taken, and by the end of this year this number will already double.
Our country is now one of the first in Europe in terms of freight infrastructure. Only in the Netherlands, Germany and France there are more public charging stations than in Belgium.
