Best Mobile Games on the Go – Conclusion – Detailed Summary

What surprised me about the Steam Deck and what makes the Steam Deck so incredibly good IMHO is the many input options!

I never expected to be able to play Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (HD mod) and 5, Command & Conquer remaster, Settlers VI, Settlers 2 Anniversary edition, Anno series, Banished on a portable device on the go… This is very much possible with Trackpads and all other inputs!

I also use the right trackpad as a mouse for shooters, Quake, Doom, Metro series, Brutal Doom… It takes a while to find the right settings for that, but once you get the hang of it and get used to it, you don't want to go back to the right stick for FPS. These trackpads are very accurate!

Windows 11 also works well on Steam Deck, if you want. I used to dual boot for a long time, but now it is no longer necessary. I recommend Steam Deck Tools for almost the same functionality in terms of controls, FPS, refresh rates, etc. in Windows. Maybe with Amernimezone drivers, so you can run the AMD Catalyst software.

I now have a Vortex mod manager running Skyrim SE, Fallout 4, Oblivion, Daggerfall, Morrowind, The Witcher 3, and Kingdom Come Deliverance, and I mod those games just as I used to on Windows.
