Beware of these scams: “They have only one goal: to steal your savings”

The FSMA explains that “Belgian consumers have recently been offered to invest in precious metals or in the development of a network of electric car charging stations (‘eco-parking’). They have been promised very high returns.”

People are urged to be careful: “No matter how tempting these offers may seem, there are often scammers behind them.”

Victims initially contact scammers through social media ads and fake information sites. They then email or call.

The FSMA stresses that “behind the tempting offers are fraudsters who do not have the necessary authorizations, and who have only one goal in mind: to defraud your savings.”

Be careful with these sites and email addresses.

In recent weeks, FSMA has received reports of:

“The scammers behind the websites Plenitudeeurope.com and Shellrecharges.eu are misusing the identities of well-known players in the energy sector, Eni and Shell.”
