Concretely, the price of the new CLA is around 0.27 euros per stage kilometer, an amount that will be indexed annually. The amount is limited to 40 km per day, but it can increase significantly.
Do you live 20 kilometers from work and cycle to the office every day of the week? After that, 40 kilometers a day can save you more than 200 euros per month. By the way, you get this amount in good hands: after all, the bicycle allowance is exempt from taxes and social security contributions of up to 0.27 euros per kilometer. The bicycle allowance is usually paid with the previous month’s salary.
Please note: These new regulations only apply if your employer does not have a collective labor agreement in relation to bicycle allowance. In sectors and companies that have already concluded a collective labor agreement on bicycle allowance, the same conditions continue to apply, even if the amount per kilometer is lower. This can only be reviewed when collective labor agreements are renegotiated.
Employers who grant a bicycle allowance on the basis of an individual employment contract or labor regulations – and therefore not within the framework of a collective labor agreement – fall under the supplementary agreement. If in doubt, it is best to check the circumstances with your employer.
