Black Legend: Wukong is being received positively by reviewers, but a red flag can be seen: PlayStation 5 reviews are missing.
Black Legend: Wukong will be released in a few days, and of course it’s time for reviews. Not from us unfortunately, because the publisher apparently didn’t send any codes to the Dutch media. That’s why the Guardian wants to see how well the game fares elsewhere in the world.
On Metacritic, the game has an average score of 82 after 54 reviews. It also reaches Opencritic Things are looking good for developer Game Science: an average of 82 as well. According to reviewers, we’re dealing with a very solid RPG. However, performance doesn’t seem to be very good, as several reviewers have noted.
You might say there’s nothing wrong with these reviews, but there’s something striking. All of the reviews were done on PC. There’s no sign of PlayStation 5 reviews, which is always a shame. With so many complaints about the PC version’s performance, people are looking at the console version with trepidation, but we won’t know how it performs until release. The Xbox version was previously delayed because Game Science needed more time to fine-tune things. The Guardian thinks there’s reason enough to wait a little longer. Pre-ordering seems like a bad idea in this case…
Black Legend: Wukong is somewhat of a translation of the famous Chinese story “Journey to the West”. In this story, the Monkey King was imprisoned under Mount Wy Zhi Shan for five hundred years. The game will be released on August 19 on PlayStation 5 and PC.
