Romelu Lukaku is currently on well deserved vacation with the Premier League on hold. The Red Devil went through a turbulent period at Chelsea due to his now infamous interview over the Christmas period. Episode didn’t go well with Ian Rush.

The Welshman, best known for his successful spell at Liverpool, was asked what he thought of selling Tammy Abraham to bring Lukaku to Stamford Bridge.
“I’ve been following Romelu Lukaku’s progress since befriending Thomas Tuchel again, but it seems he’s already back to his best. I was expecting that though. I see a comparison with Harry Kane at the start of the season. He wanted to leave Tottenham, which he announced publicly. But when Spurs refused to sell him, Kane initially struggled to score. While Kane is now starting to score again, I really wonder if Lukaku would go down the same path if he got so many minutes again.”
According to Rush, the Red Devil still doesn’t play at 100% with full enthusiasm. “We all know Lukaku can score goals because he’s already shown it on all levels. But he needs to get back to full fitness because he doesn’t look particularly sharp. You could even say he’s trying really hard. I tested that too, when you end up in a situation where he doesn’t work out. Something for a while. Then you end up working overtime, which makes everything worse. As an attacker, you sometimes have to wait for your chance. After you score once, everything falls back into place.”
The Welshman believes some Chelsea fans are wondering why the club sent Tammy Abraham to Roma and then bought Lukaku.
“Tammy scores really easy goals in Italy. It’s true that Serie A is not as strong as the Premier League, but it’s still. The big difference with Lukaku is that Tammy is enjoying now. Jose Mourinho gives him a lot of love, which is important for a striker. That’s not the case on The spot is with Lukaku and Tüchel. So now it is important for Lukaku to score another goal quickly, and above all to be patient. One day he will shine again for Chelsea.”
