Martine Milland is the one who asks why Debbie stopped her TV work. “I had two friends who died of cancer,” Debbie says. This created a sense of reality with the colorful look.
“Working in TV means working seven days a week,” says Debbie. “So you get the respect of the broadcast bosses.” “We would sometimes work on a program for six months. Someone could easily pass by. I also started to put it into perspective.”
Nowadays, as we all know, Debbie runs a bed and breakfast in Spain. “What I do now is not always completely realistic,” she says. “Because people are always on vacation.” “But I like to make it comfortable and fun. I'm also happy when they leave again, haha.”
In October, B&B Vol Liefde was also nominated for the Golden Televizier Ring. Later, Debbie thought this was a “ridiculous situation.” “It was a huge disappointment that we lost,” she says. “Paul keeps saying: ‘We didn’t win.’” “We gave it to the makers. I wish those people were there day and night…because this is a production, like this.” B&B full of love. It's a lot of work. I thought it was a real shame.
