Women’s European Championship
Spain, one of the favorites to win the tournament in advance, had to fight for a place in the quarter-finals. Against Denmark it looked like 0-0 for a long time, but shortly before that Cardona secured progress on the counter-attack.
Denmark, which had to win to be able to qualify, reached the final of the previous European Championship, and now star player Bernel Harder’s team is stranded in the group stage with a score of 3 out of 9.
Spain, which has to dispense with injured top player Alexia Putillas in this European tournament, will face England in the quarter-finals in a final.
