Match reportCercle Brugge beat Achter de Cazarne 0-2. Goals from top scorer Kevin Dinke and Kazim Olegbe made the difference. KV Mechelen trails by 1 in 18. Cercle Brugge is fully involved at the top.
High voltage behind the barracks. KV Mechelen had to surrender to Cercle Brugge after a poor result of 1 out of 15. Coach Defour threw Bates, Van Hecke and Raemaekers into the fray. The latter had to stop the fight in the first half and was taken away on a stretcher. Cercle coach Muslić brought the expected lineup between the lines.
We had to wait until the 24th minute to threaten the first goal. Popovic headed Seckett’s free-kick onto the crossbar, while at the other end Warlison fell to a Storm ball. Cercle Brugge were the better team in the last fifteen minutes of the first half. Somers curled a shot wide and Van der Bruggen’s effort was saved wide on the goal line by Betts.
Malinoa started the second half more sharply and soon saw a shot from Van Hecke via Warlison hit the post. On the counter-attack that followed, Dinky made the score 0-1. A serious blow to Devore’s forces. Micheline replied. Lauberbach was unlucky to finish the game several times, with Cobbaut’s header blocked by Warleson.
Cercle Brugge took advantage of the space. Olaegbe wrapped Betts up, then the young devil put the leather bone dry into the far corner. Beautiful goal. Only in the last minutes did Michelin threaten again. Lauberbach, face to face with Warlison, missed the equaliser. In the last seconds, Dinky left the score 0-3 with a penalty kick.
This leaves Malinois behind with 1 in 18. With this hat-trick, Cercle Brugge shares second place with Anderlecht, who will host the OHL team tonight.
