Cercle Brugge have seen a major break with Jesper Daland, but Groen Blaak has not given up. According to French newspaper Le Parisien, the club has reached an agreement for Dalang Jonepaul Gomis.
Daland left for Championship club Cardiff City for around €4m. Loss of Miron Muslic but Cercle Brugge hit the ground running in the summer transfer window. Union reached an agreement with FC Sochaux for centre-back Gomis.
French talents
Gomis is a 20-year-old left-footed defender. In addition to central defence, he can also play as a left-back. The French youth international is still under contract with Sochaux until 2027 with a market value of €300,000.
After Daland’s departure, Cercle Brugge were desperately looking for a new defender and the club didn’t have to look for long. Gomez is looking for playing time and a chance in a top-level team.
Medical tests
According to journalist Benjamin Quariz, Gomez’s transfer is as good as it can get. The defender’s medical tests have already been scheduled and he will sign his contract in Belgium on Monday. So the transfer announcement will not take long.
