Clayton completes the World Matchplay Finals squad

Johnny Clayton has reached the final of the World Matchplay Championship. The 17-15 “Mongoose” was too strong for Luke Humphreys in the second semi-final, and will therefore face Nathan Aspinall in the final battle on Sunday night.

The initiative was with Humphreys for a long time, and he even got a break twice at odds of 10-7. However, Clayton took one break back in the 18th leg and drew exactly in the 24th leg. In the 30th leg, Clayton already had chances to lead in the first half, but out of 100, the Welshman missed two darts in the double. Humphreys then managed to find the double 5 with his third dart to make it 15-15. Clayton then threw finishing touches of 61 and 80 to avoid extra time and take control of the match.

Clayton has previously played in eight Grand Finals and has been very successful there. He was allowed to lift the trophy six times and “The Ferret” lost only two major championship finals.
