Club Brugge will start a new chapter next season under coach Ronnie Dela. That will include looking forward to which youngsters will seize their chances with the Norwegian coach. Shion Homma could be one revelation.
The 22-year-old Japanese Blauw-Zwart picked up a year ago in his country at Albirex Niigata. It took a while before Homma found his feet, but as the season progressed he showed more and more beautiful things at Club Nxt in the Challenger Pro League. For this he was rewarded in the final matches of the playoffs with his first minutes of playing with the seniors of the club. And that was a huge success.
Confirmation is in preparation
Homma played an important role in the title’s epilogue. In the decisive match at Union SG, he completely turned the game around as a substitute with a goal and an assist, taking the title away from the Brussels team. And he was able to confirm that great performance during preparation. This past weekend, for example, Homma scored a great goal in the practice bowl against the Go Ahead Eagles.

So the Japanese can become a source of inspiration next season. It certainly wouldn’t be due to his popularity on social media. Due to his many fans from Japan, almost every post Homma is in is a direct hit. This became evident again on Monday when Club Brugge shared photos of their comedy performances during their rehearsal period. The video in question has since been viewed thousands of times and shared hundreds of times.
