Club Brugge started the season with a disappointing 1 out of 6. The national champions will be keen to bounce back, but with a trip to Genk in the offing, that is not a given.
Club Brugge will also have to do without centre-back Jorn Speelers at Genk. He was also absent against Standard last week, but will therefore not be present against Limburgers Genk.
In the press conference, Nicky Haine confirmed that Spellers will not be available this weekend and therefore will not be included in the matchday selection. A serious damper on the party spirit for Club Brugge who are desperate for points.
“Jorn has also picked up an injury and so he won’t be available this weekend,” Hein said at the press conference in Heist. “It’s not the only problem they have at Club Brugge, because there are still people injured.
Sabi is still out too.
Kiriani Sapp is still not there. “He’s fully involved in the program, but we’re not skipping any steps in the program,” Hein is clear on that. However, it’s causing some headaches ahead of this weekend’s game.
KRC Genk also started the season with 1 out of 6. This will be a big test for Hein, and another defeat will immediately put the defending champions on a slight downward slide at the start of the season.
