AA Gent has had a great start to the new season and has managed to win all of its matches so far, both domestically and in Europe. But this success also has a downside for the Buffaloes. After all, some players have put themselves in the spotlight of foreign teams with their fine performances.
If Ghent can keep their current selection intact, East Flemings will be big favorites for the title this season, according to various observers. But this will not be obvious at all. Gift Orban, for example, has made it clear he’s looking to make a step up and is currently being handled by Tottenham Hotspur. In addition, there will now be some movement around Hugo Cuypers.
Powerful stats
It should come as no surprise that the scorer from Ghent could count on foreign interests. In his first season with the Buffaloes, he has already scored 34 goals. This year he’s at 9 and barely needed 6 games for that. Moreover, the Cuypers work hard with the team and have tremendous physical ability, which of course fascinates many coaches. So it is only natural that his name now appears in European transport bulletins.
Khalifa Arnautovic
This way the Cuypers could move up to Serie A. Italian sources such as transfer controller Niccolò Schirra reported that the Bologna club had set its sights on the attacker. Rossoblu is on the verge of losing Marko Arnautović to Internazionale and will see a suitable replacement at Kuipers. There could even have been initial contacts, though a breakthrough is still a long way off. Moreover, Kuers is on balance with, among others, Georges Mikotadze (FC Metz). So let’s wait and see if the file will also become tangible.
