Comics by Donald Duck can now be read on your smartphone

There aren’t many magazines that kids and adults alike subscribe to, but if we had to name the most famous, it would have to be Donald Duck. The animated adventures of Duckburgers remain fun. Especially now, because you can now read Dutch comics on your smartphone.

For subscribers

Before we delve deeper into this great app, there is a catch. You can only use this app if you have a Donald Duck subscription. It now appears that there are about 180,000 people in the Netherlands and the magazine is of course still widely distributed. Donald Duck is also read in Flanders, but subscriber numbers are unknown. For €9 per month you have a subscription to this weekly magazine (hence access to the app)

What can the Donald Duck app do?

The Donald Duck app is really only there to read comics and jokes from the land of Scrooge McDuck and co. The cool thing is that you can also read comics, so the app is already enough with more than 1000 stories. You can save your favorite comics and even download them for offline use. The advantage of this app is that it should be accessible to children as well, which makes texting very simple and navigating the app as well. This makes the app very suitable for people trying to learn Dutch, for example.

You can access all kinds of comics in the Donald Duck app and you can read them panel by panel. The images are displayed in very good quality: you can clearly see that this is the official Donald Duck app because the quality is excellent. Colors splash off your screen and because it’s a Dutch app, you can also read the digitally illustrated magazine in Dutch. The fact that they not only uploaded PDFs but really made sure to read panel after panel is a huge plus.

From the comic book to the smartphone

Translating from an ordinary book to a smartphone screen or from a comic book to a smartphone screen is a completely different matter. The app makers have clearly understood this. If you still want to read an entire page, you can do that too: you can set your personal preferences. You can also create multiple profiles so that all family or home members can use the app however they like.

It is also smart to introduce a new joke, riddle and comic every day. This keeps you coming back to the app, even if you’ve already read the Weekly. It is enough to run this application every day.
