Between February 12 and 18, an average of 9,587 new infections were diagnosed per day, down 39 percent on a weekly basis. Seven out of ten injuries are still due to the omicron variable.

During the same period, an average of 44,700 tests were conducted per day, a quarter of which gave a positive result. The reproduction number reached 0.85, which still means the epidemic is waning. There are currently 2,999 patients with corona in Belgian hospitals, down 18 percent. Another 315 patients (-17 percent) required intensive care.

On a daily basis, an average of 209 patients were admitted between February 15 and 21 (-20 percent on a weekly basis). The number of deaths also decreased. Between February 12 and 18, an average of 41 people died from the effects of the virus each day, 13 percent less than the previous week.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 30 thousand deaths from Corona have regretted in our country. Meanwhile, more than 6.9 million Belgians have received a booster dose of the Corona vaccine. This equates to 60 percent of the total population and 74 percent of those over the age of 18.
