“We’ve reached a kind of equilibrium, with relatively high numbers,” says RIVM’s Aura Timn. For a month, about 2,500 positive tests were recorded daily. Also today: 2,501 positive tests were counted by RIVM as of 10:00 this morning.
And the reproduction number, which is a few weeks late and indicates the spread of the virus, hardly changes.
Teemen says infection rates are relatively high. “We are entering fall and winter in droves, knowing that the virus thrives in the winter and fall months.” However, the situation is completely different than it was a year ago. “Because we have great immunization coverage, although there are still many people who have not been vaccinated, especially in the younger age groups.”
Fewer IC . Acceptance
In hospitals, the number of ICU admissions fell: by a fifth to 85 last week. Outside of the IC, the number of admissions has remained roughly the same at 426.
The lower number of ICU admissions is not really visible in a hospital setting: there are about as many people in intensive care as there were two weeks ago. There are now 678 people with corona in hospital (yesterday: 682), of whom 215 are in the intensive care unit (yesterday: 220), according to the report of the National Coordination Center for Patient Outbreak (LCPS).
