The film “The Wire” was convincingly victorious. Nearly a quarter of the 206 electors placed the series as number one, and half of the electorate ranked number one. Numbers 2 and 3 of the Top 100 Voters are also from the American Series; ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Breaking Bad’ respectively. Also among the top ten are shows such as Fleabag, Game of Thrones and The Office (original British series).
The list mainly contains English-language series, but Danish, French and Spanish productions have also been voted on, among others. The highest ranked non-English title is the Danish-Swedish title “The Bridge”, at number 34.
The BBC has asked critics, journalists and industry insiders, among others, to vote for ten series from the past two decades. 206 people voted. Of these, 100 are women, 104 are men, and two are nonbinary. Votes were taken from 43 countries, from Albania to Uruguay.
