Unfortunately, Apple has discontinued the Apple Car. But that hasn’t stopped a Vietnamese woodworker from making his own Apple Car for his son. Trương Văn Đạo, also known as ND Woodworking Art on YouTube, often makes wooden cars for his children.
He recently started working on his own version of the Apple Car. As with all of his creations, the majority of it is made of wood. But if you watch the video, you’ll see that a display that contains a sort of iPad is also built into the car. It’s not a working tablet, but it looks pretty good.
The video clearly shows how he makes the rest of the car. The Apple logo is on the front and back of the car. At the end of the video you can see him driving around with his kids in his own Apple car.
What happened to the real Apple car?
Apple has been working on its own car for more than a decade, but by the start of 2024 it was clear that the Apple Car would definitely not be available. Jeff Williams, the director of the Titan project, told nearly 2,000 employees in late February 2024 that development of the Apple Car would be halted.
Apple’s original plan was to make the car fully self-driving. In that case, the car would have no steering wheel or pedals. That plan was quickly modified: The Apple Car would be self-driving only on highways. Unfortunately, we’ll never know.
The team behind the car has also been disbanded, but fortunately, that doesn’t mean all employees have been fired. They’ve started working on the AI features in iOS 18.
