(Belgium) The number of new admissions of Corona patients to Belgian hospitals will continue to decline at the present time. This is evident from the data from the Sciensano Health Institute.
From September 11-17, 60 new COVID-19 patients were added to hospitals daily. This is less than a tenth of what it was in the previous week. There are currently 713 patients with corona in hospitals. 213 of them are in intensive care units. New confirmed coronavirus infections rose again slightly in the seven days from 8 to 14 September. This represents an increase of 3 percent compared to the previous week in 1993. A total of 13,953 new infections were identified: 5,292 (38 percent) in Flanders, 4,949 (35 percent) in Wallonia and 3,385 (24 percent) in Brussels. During the same period, 14 percent more tests were administered, with an average of 45,000 tests per day. The positivity ratio remained stable at 4.9% (-0.5%). The reproduction number came in at 0.97, which means that the epidemic is decreasing slightly. The incidence, which refers to the number of infections per 100,000 people, was 239.5 over fourteen days, a decrease of 2 percent. Finally, deaths from COVID-19 are declining again. There was an average of seven times per day from September 8 to 14, 6 percent less than the previous seven days. In total, the virus has already killed more than 25,500 people. From September 8 to 14, 50 people died: 19 in Flanders, 21 in Wallonia and 10 in Brussels. Meanwhile, 86 percent of the adult population in Belgium has received at least one injection of the corona vaccine. 84 percent were fully vaccinated. (Belgium)
