Deadline Approaching for the Second Basic Energy Package, 9.5 Million Installments Already Paid | internal

9,562,165 installments have already been paid for the two core energy packages, amounting to more than €2.1 billion. This was reported by FPS Economy, who warns that the deadline for the second base pack is July 31.

The vast majority of rights holders have already automatically received the second basic package from their energy supplier, provided they have a contract on December 31, 2022. The amount is 183 € (61 € per month for January, February and March) for electricity and 405 € (135 € per month) for gas.

FPS invites people who are not sure if they have received a second basic package to view their electricity bills from March, April or May. In most cases, the installment has already been settled in the invoice provided. If someone believes they are entitled to the insurance premium but cannot find it on the invoices, a request can be submitted via the FPS Economy website or using an application form.

Request required

About 200,000 households in Belgium using group gaseous formulations do not automatically receive the second basic package. The person who entered into the gas contract for the building must submit an application before July 31st.

Basic energy packages are one of the actions taken by the federal government in response to skyrocketing energy prices. The first basic energy package was also paid for earlier this year, in the same amounts of 61 euros per month for electricity and 183 euros per month for gas, for November and December 2022.
