Anouar Ait El Hadj left Anderlecht for Genk. He was hoping to get more playing time there, although that didn’t always happen. He has now found a new team and a new opportunity with Union SG.
When Anouar Ait El Hadj left Anderlecht to join Racing Genk in January 2023, his ambition was clear: to become a regular in Limburg. That was difficult at Anderlecht, and it was the same at Genk.
The 22-year-old was not on the pitch during the regular season, but he got more opportunities during the Champions League play-offs. He eventually started for Genk in seven of the ten matches.

Haj ended up playing 534 minutes, double what he did during the regular season. However, he may have already been on his way to a new employer in May, as Union SG were already talking about their interest at the time.

Now the deal is done. Union SG have officially announced his arrival. He has signed a contract until June 2028 at Dudenpark. After 37 games for KRC Genk, his adventure there has come to an end.
“The attacking midfielder Ait El Hadj comes from Racing Genk. He has signed a contract until 2028 at the Dudenpark. Welcome to Union, Anwar,” the people of Brussels are very excited about this. In Genk they wished him good luck.
Anwar leaves KRC Genk. He continues his career in @UnionStGilloise .
