Good news for German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann: he can soon choose a new striker. Former Al-Ittihad striker Deniz Undav had a good chat with the ‘Bundstrainer’.
Deniz Undav scored this season for Stuttgart, number 3 in the Bundesliga. The former Al-Ittihad striker scored 8 goals in 10 league matches.
This put him on the radar of national coach Julian Nagelsmann, who could use an accurate striker with a view to participating in the European Championship in his country.
I was surprised, but also very happy.
“We spoke on the phone with each other,” Undav said yesterday after winning the cup over Dortmund (2-0).
“I was surprised, but I was also very happy. I couldn’t understand it. It was a good conversation.”
Undav said he would gladly accept an invitation to join the national team. “I told the national team coach that I would take the opportunity to play for Germany.”
Date in March? Then Nagelsmann comes up with a new choice.
In the European Championship, Germany plays against Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland. The second match in the group is scheduled to be held in Stuttgart.
Syrian and Kurdish roots
Deniz Undav was born and raised in Germany, his parents are from Türkiye. Although they are not full-blooded Turks. Undav’s father has Kurdish roots, and his mother is of Syrian origin.
