Diablo II: Dev revived on Activision Blizzard accusations

After all the accusations against Activision Blizzard, are you doubting whether you should buy Diablo II: Resurrected? The design director says you should “do what you think is right”.

Diablo II: Resurrected is Blizzard’s first major release since an investigation revealed that several women were harassed on a daily basis while working for Activision Blizzard. Based on these stories, the company was sued by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.

Rob Gallerani, design director for Diablo 2: Resurrected, said he was shocked by all the allegations. “It was very upsetting to hear things like this,” he told Axios.

Good to know: The main developer of Diablo II: Resurrected is Vicarious Visions. They do not participate in the lawsuit. Gallerani said the allegations caused some self-reflection on the part of the team. For example, management asked employees about improvement points. “We’ve heard a lot of really positive things, but (…) we always have to keep asking.”

The controversy also led to a re-examination of the Diablo 2 edition. However, no “problematic references” were found in, for example, Names and Missions.

Diablo II: Resurrected is vanaf 23 september te spelen op PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One en Xbox Series X / S.
