A parade of experts warn that after Ukraine, NATO will be in Putin's crosshairs. And faster than we think. “Does Putin really dare to confront a much larger and stronger opponent?” Robert De Wit (EW) wrote.
Before we knew it, the Russian army was back in full force and could easily attack a NATO member state. Maybe Moldova, or one of the Baltic countries. Hence NATO is at war with Russia. This warning is now being sounded everywhere, also by people who know about it.
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen estimates that Russia “Within three to five years” Capable of invading a NATO country. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said we must be prepared for a “possible attack” by Vladimir Putin's army. Swedish Commander-in-Chief Mikael Bedén believes that the Swedish people feel “You must prepare psychologically for war'. Polish President Edrej Duda warned that Russia could attack “as early as 2026 or 2027.”
According to Romanian Commander-in-Chief Georgita Vlad, it is a military confrontation 'Inevitable' if Russia wins in Ukraine. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes that member states must take into account the military confrontation that may last “decades.”
Are you ready for the next biggest war?
All of these warnings are understandable. How else can citizens be convinced of the need to give up prosperity and well-being because they have to spend billions more on defence, while most Europeans only know about war through television?
However, there is a lot of feedback to be made. If Russia defeats Ukraine, the question remains whether the Russian military will truly be ready for the next, larger war so quickly. Although Putin has shown off his impressive army in recent years, equipment losses are now enormous. Tanks, armored vehicles, fighter planes, bombers, naval ships, guns: they are destroyed every day by the Ukrainians – and of course also thanks to advanced Western weapons.
Poorly trained slobs from the provinces
What about the three hundred thousand Russian soldiers who were eliminated, killed or seriously injured? Thanks to Russia's huge population, Putin's officers can fill these numbers quickly, but these miscreants from the provinces are often not well trained.
It seems that the Russian army has not learned anything in the tactical sense in recent decades: Large numbers of soldiers are still sent against the enemyWith the idea that numerical superiority will automatically crush the enemy. You will just be a Russian recruiter.
Cost of war: 300 million per day
Finally, how long can Putin's regime continue to spend 40% of its budget (according to figures issued by the American think tank Wilson Center) on defense? It is said that the war is costing Russia every day About $300 million. Not even Russia can compensate for this by selling oil and gas.
Moreover, NATO countries have a significant advantage over Russia. Even if America under Donald Trump decides to step aside. The combined defense spending of European NATO countries is more than double that of Russia: approximately 350 billion to 150 billion euros.
European Armed Forces Sometimes pejoratively referred to as “bonsai armies.”: Neat and well-kept, but very small. Yet Europe has more and more modern fighter planes, bombers, and naval ships – basically everything except nuclear weapons. In short: Europeans should not be too afraid of being overrun by Putin's rebuilt army.
Putin is untrustworthy and vindictive (but not stupid)
Putin himself said: “Complete nonsense.” Russia has no interest, economic, political or military interests in fighting with NATO. But yes, even a few days before the invasion, he claimed categorically that those two hundred thousand men on the border with Ukraine were simply training.
Putin is untrustworthy and vindictive. But he's not stupid. If it continues on the path of war, it may stir up unrest in a border state, spark small conflicts, and sow the seeds of division. This is a more logical tactic for Putin, the former KGB spy, than direct war with a much stronger adversary.
